ASEMEP-CFAR’s Newsletter - LABTALK Launched June 2006
Rady Angeles , Texas Instruments
With the launching of the 1st Edition of CFAR’s LABTALK Newsletter last June 2006, the FA & REL forum of ASEMEP is being brought to the next level by way of the printed and written media. While ASEMEP’s CFAR have been sharing constantly in the monthly learning sessions, some members prefer writing than having to talk in front of 30-40 people to share their experiences in their FA & REL works… Thus the Newsletter was created to address this need.
CFAR (Council of FA & Reliability) envisions to be the advocate of excellence in the practice of Failure Analysis and Reliability Engineering. One of their mission is to promote a cooperative environment for valuable interaction of FA & REL practitioners. CFAR is now breaking new grounds for sharing & interaction in their Community of Practice (CoP) with the lauching of the Newsletter named LABTALK...
Initially CFAR aims to publish the Newsletter quarterly, but as it gets more contributions and positive responses, they plan to make this more frequent as needed. In the 1st Newsletter issue, LABTALK features a recap of CFAR’s accomplishments and plans moving forward . Articles on FA and REL were also being showcased to balance the issue for its broad readers. A forum for discussion thru Q&A format (“Itanong Mo Kay Doc!” (Ask our PhD!)) will become a regular feature. A regular Photo Contest section will also feature unique FA photos that will tickle the artistic minds of its members. CFAR members are being encouraged to contribute in these exciting sections.
More importantly, integrated sections for Advertisement of Failure Analysis & Reliability Laboratory suppliers and sponsors in LABTALK is an available service . CFAR is giving its suppliers & supporters the opportunity to advertise in the digest so they can share latest information about their products and services! The funds generated from the ADS services will help CFAR towards its goal of becoming self-sustaining and continue its projects & regular activities. There is a lot of excitement about LABTALK and CFAR hopes that this will become a meaningful instrument that can fully serve their Community of Practice.
